Fort Worth police have released body camera footage of an incident in which an officer fired his weapon at a restaurant owner while responding to a call for a break-in.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on March 12 when officers responded to a burglary alarm at a restaurant on Terminal Road. Upon arrival, officers circled to the back of the building, where they encountered a man holding a gun.

The video shows the man immediately complying with officers’ commands to drop the weapon. Police later determined that the man was the owner of the restaurant and not the suspected burglar. An investigation revealed that someone else had broken into the restaurant and a storage area at the rear of the property.

No one was injured during the incident. The two officers involved were placed on leave for a few days but are scheduled to return to duty this week.
