IRVING (1080 KRLD)- A 37-year-old man faces a charge of capital murder of multiple persons after a shooting left two people dead at a Chick-fil-A in Irving on Thursday. Authorities have also identified one of the victims.

The shooting took place around 4 p.m. Thursday at a Chick-fil-A in the 5300 block of MacArthur Boulevard in Irving just south of Walnut Hill Lane, Irving police say.

"When officers arrived on scene, they located two individuals who had been struck by gunfire," Irving Police Officer Anthony Alexander said Thursday afternoon. "Both of those individuals have been pronounced deceased by Irving Fire medics."

Alexander said the shooting was not random.

"We have received information this was a targeted incident, but our investigators are trying to establish exactly what occurred out here," he said.

The gunman left before officers arrived. Police sent an alert with Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta's picture and car, warning people to call 911 if they saw him.

Argueta was arrested overnight and booked into Irving City Jail just after 3 a.m. Thursday on a charge of capital murder of multiple people. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also placed a hold on Argueta.

The hold means Argueta could be transferred to federal custody. ICE may be investigating his legal status, if he had an existing order to be removed from the country or if he should be deported for the shooting.

One of the victims has been identified as Patricia Portillo, age 49. The name of the other victim has not been released. Police say Argueta's spouse was not harmed in the shooting but did witness the attack.

While police say the shooting was "targeted", they have not revealed a motive in the case.
