Police have arrested a man for a murder in Carrollton last Friday. About 9 a.m. Friday, Carrollton police were called to a shooting on Mac Arthur Drive, near Old Denton Road and Bush Turnpike.
Police say a woman had been shot and stabbed while she pulled into work. They say the gunman immediately left the scene, and investigators started looking at surveillance video from nearby businesses and door bell cameras from homes in the area.
Police say the victim, Alyssa Burkett, 24, was involved in a "contentious custody battle" with Andrew Beard, 33. The two had a one year old daughter together.
The two lived in Rockwall, and police say Beard followed Burkett to her work in Carrollton Friday morning and killed her. Police say Beard turned himself in Monday when he learned an arrest warrant had been issued.
Tuesday morning, Beard was in Carrollton City Jail. His bond had not been set.
Their daughter was not hurt and is now in custody of Child Protective Services.
