Police in Plano are digging into the background of a man accused of the abduction and sexual assault of a young girl in the early 1990s, and they're asking the public for help.
Nicholas Ray Carney, 63, was arrested in Oklahoma in December on charges stemming from a 1991 case in Plano. Police said at the time that DNA evidence identified Carney as their suspect and that they also suspected him in a similar case in Dallas in 1999.
Now, they're trying to identify everywhere that he has ever lived or worked, and every vehicle that he has driven. They said there are concerns about possible offenses involving children and adults.
They said Carney lived in California in the 1970s and 1980s before living in North Texas in the 1990s.
They're asking anyone with information about him or his possible relation to any criminal activity to call the Plano Police Department's Tip Line at 972-941-2148 or to email them at policetips@plano.gov.
