Tyler Robinson's preliminary hearing for the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk continued Thursday in Provo, Utah, as prosecutors presented video testimony from Robinson's former roommate describing a confession the day after the shooting.
The fourth day of the hearing focused on evidence including an interview with Lance Twiggs, who told law enforcement that Robinson admitted involvement in the Sept. 10, 2025, shooting at Utah Valley University in Orem and expressed regret. Twiggs said Robinson cried and said he wished he hadn't done it while they were in their apartment more than 200 miles from the scene.
Robinson, 23, faces aggravated murder charges in the death of Kirk, who was fatally shot while speaking to a crowd of about 3,000 people. Investigators say the shot came from a building approximately 140 yards away. If convicted, Robinson could face the death penalty.
Prosecutors have also presented other evidence during the multi-day hearing, which began earlier this week and is expected to last five days. The preliminary hearing determines whether there is probable cause to bind the case over for trial.
The case has drawn national attention, with the conservative movement mourning Kirk's death and heightened security concerns for public figures.
Utah authorities and the Fourth District Court are handling the proceedings in Provo.
