Two softball coaches in Prosper are now facing charges for failing to report the sexual abuse of a child.

Reports say head coach Renna Bersosa and assistant Kasie Ostrom were arrested and booked in the Collin County jail this past Friday and yesterday.

According to court documents, the two women were told just before the school year started that one of their players assaulted at least three other players on the softball team, but the victim alleges that they said the suspect is a "good player" and that they "don't want to lose her," so they failed to report the abuse.

The reporting student tells police Bersosa directed her to handle the matter herself by warning the offender to stop or the abuse would be reported.

Texas law requires anyone who suspects child abuse neglect to report it to police. Educators are required to report the information within 48 hours or they can face criminal charges.

Both have been released on bond.
