There’s a familiar buzz at Texas Motor Speedway this week, as one of North Texas’s biggest sporting weekends returns with a full lineup of NASCAR racing, music, and family-friendly activities.
The weekend’s centerpiece is Sunday’s Würth 400 Cup Series race, but the schedule stretches across several days with a wide variety of events both on and off the track.
“We added a sprint car, racing on Thursday night and Saturday night," said Mark Faber, Executive Vice President and General Manager at Texas Motor Speedway.
The weekend kicks off Thursday, followed by the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series SpeedyCash.com 250 on Friday night and the Xfinity Series Andy’s Frozen Custard 300, leading up to Sunday’s main event.
This year’s Cup race comes with a new name—Würth 400 presented by Liqui Moly.
Off the track, the Speedway is offering an expanded slate of activities.
“Our fan zone this year is going to be about a mile in length, which is really a significant footprint,” Faber noted.
The lineup includes pig races, Lucha Libre wrestling, mariachi performances, a barbecue contest, and trapeze acts.
“We have a little Fiesta flavor. That’ll translate over into our food and beverage as well,” he said, nodding to a Cinco de Mayo theme woven throughout the weekend.
Country artist Ernest is scheduled to perform a pre-race concert Sunday. Fans will also have chances to meet drivers for autographs and attend Kevin Harvick’s Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame induction on Friday.
Faber emphasized the Speedway’s efforts to make the event accessible for families. “Children 12 and under are free [on Friday and Saturday]. On Sunday, children 12 and under are $10. So it’s really affordable for fans.”
Other amenities include free parking, the option to bring soft-sided coolers, and additional legroom in the stands. Fans can also follow the action on "The Big Hoss," the Speedway’s giant outdoor TV screen.
