Just weeks after his retirement, former DART Police Chief James Spiller has died. Spiller joined DART PD 20 years ago and rose to become Chief in 2005.
He led the department through tough times -- most notably, the murder of DART officer Brent Thompson who was killed in the 2016 ambush shooting in downtown Dallas during which four Dallas police officers also died.
The cause of Spiller's death has not been disclosed.
