Students across Dallas, Fort Worth, Denton and Collin counties will soon trade classrooms for summer vacation as major school districts wrap up the 2025-2026 school year in the coming days.
The majority of districts in the four-county area are scheduled to release students between Thursday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 27.
Dallas ISD will hold its last day of school on Tuesday, May 27 with an early release for all students. Fort Worth ISD dismisses students on Thursday, May 21 under its traditional calendar.
In Collin County, Plano ISD and Frisco ISD both conclude classes on Friday, May 22 with early release. McKinney ISD students have their last day on Thursday, May 21. Denton ISD and Lewisville ISD in Denton County are also scheduled to end the school year on Friday, May 22 with early release days.
The staggered end dates allow districts to complete final testing, grading and end-of-year activities while giving families time to plan for summer childcare, camps and vacations. School officials have reminded parents to return textbooks, clear lockers and prepare for the transition.
The end of the academic year marks a major milestone for tens of thousands of North Texas families. Many districts have already shared final reminders about bus schedules, report cards and summer enrichment programs.
