Parts of Interstate 35E will be closed in Red Oak over the weekend for road work, as long as the rain holds off. Here's what drivers in the area need to know.
Starting at 9 p.m. Saturday, the southbound lanes and one northbound lane on Interstate 35E will close, along with through traffic on Farm-to-Market Road 664. The lanes will reopen at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
On Sunday at 9 p.m., the northbound lanes of I-35E and FM 664 through lanes will close until 5 a.m. on Monday.
On Monday, all I-35E frontage road lanes and adjacent exit ramps in both directions will close, along with through traffic on FM 664 over the bridge. The lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday. Marked detours to the frontage road will be in place. Motorists should expect delays when traveling through the area.
The closures will allow crews to remove a portion of the FM 664 bridge over I-35E as part of a $137 million reconstruction project, which is expected to be completed in April 2028.
