North Texas World Cup organizers have put in an official inquiry with FIFA to change the proposed temporary name of AT&T Stadium during next year's World Cup to make the leaders of Arlington happy.
The North Texas Organizing Committee has asked FIFA for the possibility to make the change but will wait until after the Club World Cup is over to follow up.
"That's a high priority for them right now," said North Texas FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee President Monica Paul. "We'll look to readdress that an engage in conversation later this summer."
The committee inquired if they could change the name to "Arlington-Dallas Stadium" or something similar.
Right now FIFA lists AT&T Stadium as "Dallas Stadium."
"They change the names for all the cities based on the host city so the name is 'Dallas Stadium,'" Paul said.
