A man is behind bars in Fort Worth after leading police on a winding, high-speed chase late Monday night.
The chase started a little past 11 p.m. when an officer tried to pull over a Chevy Camaro but the driver had not intentions of stopping. He sped east-bound on Loop 820 into Haltom City where the Camaro made a u-turn at Denton Highway and went back west-bound on 820.
More officers were joining the pursuit and they threw out the 'Stop Sticks' which flattened at least one tire. The driver then took the Mark Four Parkway exit and went north and tried to turn into a neighborhood about a mile north of 820.
That's where the man finally braked to halt and bailed out to run for it. But the officers chased him down and slapped the handcuffs on him.
Once they had him detained they learned why he tried to evade arrest. He had a list of felony warrants out of Fort Worth and from the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office. He was wanted for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and for committing Indecency with a Child.
