Another name has been added to the republican race for U. S.
Senate in Texas.

Congressman Wesley Hunt who represents portions of Harris County northwest of Houston is joining the race headlined by Senator John Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Hunt released a YouTube video featuring supporters and family members Monday morning.

"I fought in combat, and I've fought for Texas in Congress," Congressman Hunt said on his campaign website. "Now, I'm taking that same fighting spirit to the United States Senate."

The move is in defiance of Senate republican leadership.
Both Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senator Tim Scott who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee have publicly chided Hunt ahead of his announcement.

"Rep. Wesley Hunt is a legend in his own mind. No one is happier this morning than the national Democrats who are watching Wesley continue his quixotic quest for relevancy," wrote Cornyn campaign senior adviser Matt Mackowiak.

Attorney General Paxton continues a slight lead in recent polling with other polls showing Cornyn sneaking ahead.
