January is usually one of the slowest months for alcohol drinkers, as many try to recover from the holiday season and New Year’s Eve celebrations. However, with so many great places to grab a drink throughout the metroplex, it appears many had their “dry January” cut short this year. A new report recently revealed North Texas spent $58 million in alcohol at Dallas bars in the month of January to kick off their 2022.

In Texas, any business with a Mixed Beverage license must report all sales generated from liquor, beer and wine on a monthly basis. Thanks to this data, Central Track was able to find just how much was spent at bars in Dallas at the start of the new year. While $58 million may seem like a lot, it was actually significantly lower than December, where over $91 million was spent on alcohol at Dallas bars.

For January, the leader in alcohol sales was American Airlines Center, followed by Bottled Blonde, Omni Dallas Convention Center, Nick and Sam’s, and Happiest Hour. A number of familiar names made the list, with a few newcomers as well. Maybe January 2023 will be a true “dry January.”
