As officers continue to look for the 14-year-old they say is responsible for a triple homicide at a Garland convenience store, the reward money has been increased for information.
33-year-old Richard Acosta is accused of driving the getaway truck the night police say his 14-year-old son Abel Acosta opened fire inside the gas station in downtown Garland. A 14, 16, and 17-year-old were all killed.
The elder Acosta was transferred to the Dallas County jail. His bond has been increased to $3 million. Meanwhile, Officer Pedro Barineau says his son is still on the run.
"He's a light-skinned Hispanic male," Barineau said. "He has dark hair and brown eyes. He's approximately 5 feet 5 inches in height weighing around 125 pounds."
He says the reason for the shooting appears to be retaliation for a previous incident. The reward money being offered has been increased from $5-$10,000 grand. Jerry Reynolds, president of the Car Pro Radio network donated the additional $5,000 as a lifelong Garland resident.
"When you see a 14-year-old walk into a place, and shoot one guy and execute three others, you need to step and do something - and that was my thinking on this."
