The city of Richardson is asking for submissions for its second annual traffic signal box art contest.

The community responded positively to the artwork last year, so the city is in search of art to cover five more traffic signal boxes around town. This year's contest will celebrate Richardson's 150th anniversary.

Artists who live in Richardson or any student in the school district can enter. The requirements included that the art must be original, not feature any trademarks or commercial logos, be apropriate for all ages, and highlight the city's history.

The winning designs will be featured at the following intersections: Main Street at N. Greenville Avenue (two traffic boxes), N. Collins Boulevard at N. Greenville Avenue, W. Arapaho Road and Coit Road, and W. Renner Road and Custer Parkway.

Digital designs are being accepted through April 28. Several cities across North Texas use local artists to decorate signal boxes, including Grand Prairie, Lewisville, and Cedar Hill.
