Businesses big and small are looking for a brisk holiday shopping season.
Rosa and Mazen Khalef have owned Rosa's Pottery And More in Arlington for more than 10 years.
All of their merchandise is hand-made and painted and imported from Mexico -- very different than what you might find at a big retailer.
"We don't try really to compete (against) anybody," says Rosa Khalef. "We have our own unique pottery here; and people, they know."
And the Khalefs have grown their business over the last decade-plus through loyal customers and word-of-mouth.
"They always come back, and these people bring us somebody else," says Khalef.
Some small businesses supplement their food traffic with online sales -- but not the Khalefs.
"The cost for shipping is very expensive," Rosa Khalef notes. "And sometimes, the customer ends up pay more for the shipping, then how much the item costs."
Still, business has been good over the years, including the time that the world shut down due to COVID.
"We try to maintain as much as we can, you know, of course during COVID, it was not big business," says Khalef. "(But it was) enough for us, for a family."
So how's this year's holiday season going so far?
"So far, it's been okay," Khalef says. "It (hasn't been) a lot, but it's been really well for us."
