A pilot is okay after his small plane crashed in far north Fort Worth Sunday evening.

The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office got the call about 6 p.m. about an aircraft crashing and deputies were immediately dispatched to a grassy area near Hicks Airfield.

Reports say the single-engine aircraft had come down in the field and skidded into a line of trees and brush.

The pilot got out of the cockpit without injury. The reason for the crash is unknown but the FAA is starting an investigation.
