South Oak Cliff has a chance to make history

DALLAS (1080KRLD)- It's been a long time since a Dallas ISD school won a state championship in football.

But the South Oak Cliff Golden Bears could become the new Texas UIL 5A state champions if they win this weekend.

South Oak Cliff faces Liberty Hill at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The last time a Dallas ISD school won a state championship was 1958, when the segregated Booker T. Washington High School won the Prairie View Interscholastic League title. Sunset High School won a UIL title in 1950.

Additionally, Duncanville High School also won its semifinal and is headed to the 6A UIL state championship. Duncanville head coach Reginald Samples is a Golden Bears alumni.​
