SOUTHLAKE (1080 KRLD)- A massive fire in Southlake destroys a mansion that used to belong to NFL broadcast legend Pat Summerall.

The 11,000-square-foot home was empty and undergoing renovation.

The fire broke out around 5:00 a.m. at the mansion on South White Chapel. By the time the fire department got there, there were flames coming out the roof.

"It was fully enflamed. They made sure nobody was inside," said Southlake Police Officer Brad Uptmore. "The Fire Marshal’s office is working on the cause and origin of the fire."

It took hours to get the fire under control. While records show the house once belonged to Pat Summerall, who died in 2013, Uptmore says it was empty. No injuries have been reported.

It may take several days to determine the cause of the fire.

This is a developing story.
