The three Texas teams will all have high picks in the NBA draft in June.

In the highly convoluted NBA draft lottery held last night, the Dallas Mavericks held onto the tenth overall pick. There had been a chance Dallas would have to let that pick go to the Knicks as part of the 2019 trade that brought Kristaps Porzingis to Dallas.

But the way the ping pong balls came out, Dallas still has that 10th pick which the Mavs are widely expected to shop around in various trade scenarios before the June 22nd draft.

The other Texas NBA teams came out smelling like a rose.

The Houston Rockets ended up getting the 4th overall pick and the San Antonio Spurs ended up with number one.

With that top pick, San Antonio is in place to get to choose the French 19-year-old basketball phenom Victor Wembanyama, generally considered one of the best NBA prospects of all time.
