After major vaccine hubs were forced to shut down last week because of the weather, Dallas and Tarrant Counties are now facing another setback.
The state has announced that this week, its cutting vaccine allotment for Dallas County Health and Human Services and Tarrant County Public Health.
The move comes after partnerships with FEMA were announced in both counties but officials say they didn't expect to have the vaccine allotment cut.
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins says because of the cuts, about 9,000 fewer people will be vaccinated than originally expected this week.
In Tarrant County, that number is closer to 16,000.
Both counties will soon have FEMA run sites and will vaccinate more than 20,000 people each week, according to projections.
However the new federally run sites are only giving doses to people in underserved zip codes.
The Texas Department of State Health Services is expected to give more information on vaccine allotment this afternoon.
