The State Fair of Texas will not hold its traditional Rodeo and pre-Fair horse shows during the upcoming 2026 fair season in Dallas, organizers announced Monday.
Officials said the decision to pause these longtime attractions came after a routine annual review of entertainment, exhibitor offerings, and overall costs to ensure financial responsibility and an affordable experience for families.
Fair leadership emphasized in a statement that the pause is not permanent and does not signal a reduced commitment to the Texas equine industry, adding that support for equestrian events remains strong and those activities may return when conditions allow.
The 2026 fair is still scheduled to open this fall at Fair Park in Dallas with other entertainment and attractions planned.
