Carrollton police say street racing led to the death of a 19-year-old.
The crash happened just before 8:00 last night along East Trinity Mills Road. Police say Carlos Rivera from Dallas was the only one in the car when he was racing a carload of friends and lost control.
Police say he crashed into a tree near Willowgate Lane and died at the scene due to his injuries.
The 19-year-old driver of the other car stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police say charges are pending.
Street racing is punishable as a second-degree felony if it involves serious injury or death. That could mean up to 20 years in prison, and a $10,000 fine.
Officials say the people in the second car were not hurt.
