In an effort to curb crime the Dallas Police Department wants strip clubs and other sexually oriented businesses to close at 2 a.m.
Currently, there are no rules for closing times in the city and many of these establishments stay open well after 2 a.m. Police chief Eddie Garcia says this move will help curb crime in and around these establishments, many of which are havens for drugs, prostitution, and other types of crimes.
Previously another committee voted to create a task force to look at the issue, something councilwoman Cara Mendelsohn says isn't necessary.
The full city council will vote on the matter next month.
