One week after a student was arrested at Mansfield's Timberview High School for bringing a loaded gun on campus, another arrest has been made in connection with a gun.
A student is behind bars after reports of a gun at Mansfield Timberview High School in Arlington. According to a letter sent out to parents, two students reported seeing another student on campus with a gun yesterday afternoon.
"I understand that another report of a weapon on campus is deeply upsetting," Principal Derrell Douglas wrote in yesterday's letter to parents. He goes on to say that they're beefing up on-campus security for the remainder of the school year. "We have increased the frequency of hand-held wand checks and will have a continued increased police presence on the campus."
The Mansfield ISD police launched an investigation, and didn't end up finding a weapon. Police arrested the student in question anyway, but at this point it's not clear what they're being charged with.
Last week a student was arrested after being found with a loaded gun on campus. This is the same school where in 2021 a student opened fire when a fight broke out in a classroom, shooting three people and injuring a pregnant woman. At that time, the shooter's family claimed he was a victim of bullying and brought the gun to school to defend himself.
