Fort Worth (1080 KRLD) - UPDATE (6/12) The website mentioned in this story has been taken down.
Prior to the site being taken offline, KRLD received a statement from Brian Childers, who owns strategic consulting company Comport and who registered the domain.
"Verifymyvoting.com is a non-partisan research tool supported by a cross-section of the community. It uses public data to help Fort Worth residents check to see if their votes from the May 1, 2021 general election were properly recorded. We encourage every interested citizen who voted in the general election to use this website and verify that their vote was recorded. No data is collected by the site unless the person specifically chooses to do so. If you chose not to vote, this website will allow you to see if a vote was attributed to you. No data is collected or provided that isn't publicly available already. Election integrity is the foundation of democracy and is the sole purpose of what these individuals are pursuing. This effort is in no way to imply that anything other than the highest levels of integrity are being employed. This is just a mechanism designed to validate that for Fort Worth residents who wish to do so."
The original story is as follows:
Tarrant County officials are out with a word of warning for those who voted in the Fort Worth municipal elections.
People in Fort Worth are reporting that they are receiving postcards asking them to go to the website verifymyvoting.com to see whether their vote was counted in the May 1st election.
"We've had a lot of calls that say, 'Well, is this Tarrant County?'; and no it is not," says Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley.
The website asks users to enter their names, addresses and ZIP codes; and it would supposedly show whether they voted in the May 1 election.
It then invites users to contact them to report any discrepancies.
"Be very careful about giving them any kind of personal information," says Judge Whitley, "especially when it looks as though they're trying to imply they're somebody other than who they are."
The website does not reveal the name of any organization responsible for it.
The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office says the website does not come from either political party in the county.
A WHOIS search on the domain also did not yield any owner information.
