There is concern that the temporary loss of SNAP benefits will mean an increase in the number of evictions across the Metroplex in the coming weeks.

Dallas-based Interfaith Family Services has already seen an increase in those asking for assistance.

Kimberly Williams is CEO of Interfaith Family Services.

"What we have noticed is that our request for rent and utility assistance is creeping up again," Williams said. "We won't know the full impact until we see what the Dallas eviction totals are for December and January.

She says on top of that, families will be seeing about a $180 increase in what they would typically spend for Thanksgiving and Christmas making it more difficult.

"When these families fall short because of situations like these, or maybe a reduction in hours or illness, they can come to us and get support for rent and utilities assistance," Williams said.
