It’s a double whammy for relief groups helping in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, now getting slammed by Nicholas.

Nicholas made landfall as a Category One hurricane early this morning near Galveston. John Hall, with Texas Baptist Men, says they sent two crews to the area to help with relief efforts.

"We're multiplying our relief efforts," Hall says. "We have 24 teams still on the ground serving after Hurricane Ida in Louisiana, and we also have two teams standing by-- one in Beaumont, one in Houston-- who are ready to serve right now. They're essentially riding out the storm."

Hall says the teams in Louisiana that are currently helping with Hurricane Ida relief will also respond to any new challenges Nicholas brings to the area. He says TBM is committed to serving and providing relief to any disaster-stricken area, but it isn't easy responding to two emergencies at once.

"This is a challenge," Hall says. "We plan and we prepare for these situations, but if we need to respond to another place or multiple places after this storm, it's going to be expensive."

One hundred percent of donations given to TBM go to providing disaster relief. For more information about how to donate, click here.
