Texas Baptist Men is sending volunteers to Palo Pinto County to help first responders working around-the-clock to keep the Dempsey Fire under control.
“They’re having to cover a lot of mileage, with the winds and with the cold front coming through … the expansion of the fire,” said TBM Associate Director for Disaster Relief Rupert Robbins. “We’re really pretty much a support role. And glad to do so.”
Robbins said volunteers will be making breakfast and lunch for firefighters, as well as for the emergency management and Texas Fire Service teams. That’s more than 400 hot meals per day, on top of providing laundry and shower services.
Robbins said they’ll be there as long as they’re needed. “We’re honored to come in with our volunteers and meet their needs.”
Volunteers from North Texas are teaming up with others from across the state. TBM is a nonprofit organization that operates off of donations. If you want to help with this mission, more information about what you can do can be found here.
