Texas Baptist Men is sending teams of volunteers to Boulder County to help in the aftermath of the devastating wildfire that broke out Dec. 30, destroying hundreds of homes and displacing thousands in Colorado.

"The homeowners asked us to come do sifting," says David Wells, Director of Disaster Relief for TBM. "Looking for precious metals or jewelry-- those things that would survive the fire and still be in the ash."
TBM is sending volunteers from the Dallas area and Amarillo area. They'll stay in Boulder County for about ten days, salvaging whatever they can.
"Most of them look at it and think everything's just gone and walk away," Wells says. "The ones that go through the sifting find that there is some hope."
Typically, Wells says about a five gallon bucket’s worth of salvageable belongings is recovered from each house.
"Giving them some kind of hope is key to these folks," Wells says.
TBM’s mission is to spread hope and healing. The organization is made out of volunteers and depends entirely on donations. Wells says they appreciate any and all help supporting their mission.
