Texas Democrats have a message for Governor Greg Abbott as they break quorum.

Several Texas House Democrats spoke in New York saying that the fight to protect democracy takes more than just one state.

State Representative, and Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, Mihaela Plesa of Collin County responded to Governor Greg Abbott's message that abandonment means a forfeiture of elected office.

"Come and get it, come and take it," Rep. Plesa said during a news conference in New York Monday. "The governor is very good at manipulating the truth and what he is saying is not completely accurate."

Plesa said Governor Abbott knows that they are using a tool that was given to them by the founders of the Texas constitution.

Abbott says attendance during a Special Session is not an optional thing and that he will invoke a Texas Attorney General Opinion to remove the missing Democrats from membership in the Texas House.

Plesa says what Governor Abbott is doing will not work.
