Texas Rangers investigate officer involved shooting in Denton

DENTON (1080 KRLD)- The Texas Rangers are investigating an officer-involved-shooting after a Denton County Sheriff Deputy fired his weapon at an armed suspect.

According to the Denton County Sheriff's office, deputies responded to a disturbance around 2:59 a.m. in northwest Denton, Friday morning. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a man armed with knives who refused to drop them while moving towards the deputies. It was then, that a sheriff's deputy fired his weapon injuring the man.


Denton County Sheriff's office says deputies performed life-saving measures on the man while ambulance arrived. The man was then transported to Medical City Denton were he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.

The man has been identified as 35-year-old Gregory Goodall, of Sanger.

No further information has been released at this time. The Texas Rangers are investigating at this time.
