Restaurants in World Cup Host Cities not only saw a huge economic boom from the tournament, but also saw success in ways they did not anticipate.

Dr. Emily Williams-Knight is President and CEO of the Texas Restaurant Association.

She says while some saw huge crowds, others benefited differently.

"Honestly, I also had a restaurant call from Dallas and say 'I'm not getting the traffic during the day but my to-go is really high,'" Dr. Williams-Knight said. "We saw those sales increase too."

Because of that, some restaurants are learning how to better cater to their customers.

It's possible they can put out 'to-go' packages for major events for people to enjoy at home in the future.

One worry going into the World Cup about tipping has also been answered.

There were worries that those not accustomed to tipping would not do it.

"I think that people that traveled internationally to Dallas, as an example, it's not as if they did not know anything about our culture," Williams-Knight said. "When we go to Europe, we know that typically the tip is usually always fixed in, it was just the same here."

However, she says while the Texas Restaurant Association advised their members to leave mandatory gratuity up to their individual business model, others states did things differently.

She says in some cases, that practice backfired as it upset many local and loyal customers.
