On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization issued a pronouncement that shook the world. The outbreak from the new COVID-19 virus had become a pandemic.
Two days after the declaration, Gov. Greg Abbott issued a coronavirus disaster order for Texas.
And on March 15, the state saw its first COVID-related fatality. By the end of March 2020, "stay-home" orders were fully in effect.
One year later, Texas and the nation are still working to bring COVID-19 under control, but we have come a long way.
