FRISCO, Texas — Golf fans now have their first chance to get in line for the 2027 PGA Championship at PGA Frisco, and organizers say waiting could mean missing out.

Jason Mengel, Championship Director for the 2027 PGA Championship, said free ticket registration is now open and will determine a fan’s place in line once actual ticket sales begin after this year’s PGA Championship.

“This is not ticket sales,” Mengel said. “Registration is free… and that will hold your place in line...when ticket sales start immediately following this year’s PGA.”

Fans can register now at PGAChampionship.com/register.

The order matters.

Mengel said history shows that by the time organizers work through the registration queue, some of the most in-demand tickets are often already gone.

“Historically anyway, when we’ve gone through the registered sale, by the time you get through that, championship rounds would be sold out,” Mengel said. “So if you want to attend on one of the championship rounds, the earlier you register, the better your position to do that.”

The event is expected to draw enormous interest, both locally and far beyond North Texas.

The 2027 championship will mark the first men’s major championship in Dallas-Fort Worth in more than 60 years, giving the region a rare opportunity to host one of golf’s biggest events. Mengel called that return “significant” and said the response so far has already been strong.

“We’re all very excited, especially the community,” he said. “Our partners at the City of Frisco and Omni PGA Frisco Resort, we’re all working tirelessly to make sure that we deliver a world-class experience.”

Organizers expect more than 200,000 attendees at PGA Frisco in 2027, with visitors coming from all 50 states and multiple countries. Mengel said the event will also shine a major spotlight on Frisco itself.

“The PGA Championship is annually one of the most televised events in sports,” he said. “It’s got over 250 hours of live coverage across cable, network and streaming platforms.”

That kind of exposure is a big deal for a city that has rapidly grown into one of the state’s premier sports destinations.

Mengel said demand from the business community is already offering clues about what may be ahead for ticket buyers. Corporate hospitality sales began around last year’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and he said the response has been very strong.

“We’re experiencing unprecedented demand,” Mengel said. “If that’s any sign of what’s to come when people get the chance to buy tickets later this spring, I think we’re in for an amazing event with amazing crowd support.”

The championship also brings deep historical ties to North Texas golf.

Mengel noted that the last two PGA Championships played in the area were won by two of the biggest names in the sport: Walter Hagen at Cedar Crest in 1927 and Jack Nicklaus in 1963.

“That’s a pretty good lineage here of Dallas major champions,” he said.

For now, the message from organizers is simple: registration is free, there is no obligation to buy, and fans who want the best shot at tickets should not wait.

“This is a unique opportunity to be a part of this event and witness that history firsthand,” Mengel said
