The man convicted in the shooting death of a Fort Worth police officer is going to prison for life with no chance of parole.

On Wednesday night, the same jury that convicted Timothy Huff decided on a life sentence during the penalty phase of the trial.

In 2018, undercover Fort Worth officer Garrett Hull was gunned down during a confrontation with a group of armed robbery suspects.

While Huff did not fire the fatal shot, he was convicted of capital murder under the Texas "Law of Parties," which allows a person to be criminally responsible for the actions of someone else when there was a conspiracy to commit one crime and another felony occurs.

Tarrant County Assistant Criminal District Attorney Lloyd Whelchel argued for the death penalty but the jury settled on life without parole.
