BEDFORD (1080 KRLD)- Bedford Police tried to make a traffic stop on 183 Sunday, but that led to an hours-long stand-off in the middle of the highway.
Bedford police say officers tried to stop a woman for speeding in the express lanes of 183 around noon Sunday. they say she called 9-1-1 and said she had a gun in the car. She pulled over, and police started a high-risk traffic stop.
Witnesses say the woman was angry and yelling at police. The stand-off shut down 183 between Brown and Industrial for more than three hours.
Bedford police say SWAT ultimately fired tear gas and the woman got out and surrendered.
She went to the hospital and will then go to jail. No officers were hurt in the incident.
