A jury in Fort Worth will begin hearing testimony Monday in the capital murder trial of a man accused of killing a convenience store clerk in 2020.
Christopher Turner is charged with the deadly shooting of Anwar Ali, who had recently opened the Super Big Country Mart on Rendon Crowley Road south of Fort Worth.
Ali was killed in March 2020 when two masked men entered the store. Police said they believe Ali may not have been alarmed by the men's masks, as it was early in the COVID-19 pandemic. Surveillance footage, however, shows the men opening fire before fleeing the scene.
Turner was later arrested in Colorado and charged in the case. If the jury finds him guilty of capital murder, they will also determine whether he should be sentenced to death.
