Truck hits power line in Lake Worth leaving two injured

Lake Worth (1080 KRLD)- Two people were hurt when an 18-wheeler hit a power line in Lake Worth. The power line blocked both sides of SH-199 for several hours before crews from ONCOR were able to replace it.

"An 18-wheeler working in the construction zone on west-bound SH-199 struck a power line and caused that line to sever and fall across the road," said Lake Worth Police Chief J.T. Manoushagian.

"That line was live. It snapped into the east-bound direction, which caused it to run off the road."

The driver of that car was not injured. The two men inside the 18-wheeler that hit the power line were electrocuted and rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Police shut down the road in both directions while crews from ONCOR worked to restore the line. Power to some customers in the Lake Worth area was affected. The line was restored mid-afternoon and the road was re-opened to traffic.
