The Turtle Creek Chorale is ready to tackle a contentious issue through the power of music this Sunday. With their concert "Pages," the acclaimed Dallas ensemble will confront the topic of book banning and censorship, aiming to shed light on the ongoing national debate.

The concert on Sunday, May 19 at 6 p.m. will take place at Northaven United Methodist Church off Preston Road and is aptly named "Pages," as it celebrates not only literature but also the discussion surrounding book bans.

"The concert features our small ensemble of the Turtle Creek Chorale," Sean Baugh, the artistic director of TCC, explained. "We are using a more intimate setting, our music to shine some light on some issues that are important to us."

This thought-provoking performance will go beyond mere melodies.

"We're approaching this concert really from the viewpoint of folks who like literature and music about literature," Baugh explained.

The concert will weave together music, stories, facts, poetry, and quotes from famous authors and public figures to create a compelling narrative.

"We believe at the Turtle Creek Chorale that music is the one thing that kinda binds us all," he stated.

The concert is "pay what you wish," offering everyone the chance to catch the works without any barrier of entry.

There will also be a livestream of Sunday's concert on the Turtle Creek Chorale website.
