A man fatally shot himself after firing at officers and leading them on a chase through Johnson and Tarrant counties on Monday, authorities say.
The chase began in Mansfield, where police said they received several 911 calls about a wrong-way driver. When officers tried to pull the man over, he waved a gun at them and drove off, police said.
Police said the pursuit took officers into Johnson County, before the driver turned back north into Mansfield, where he rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection of Broad Street and State Highway 360.
While he was still inside the car, the driver shot and killed himself, police said. There were no other injuries, although several squad cars were struck by gunfire.
