Two Dallas police officers have been arrested in unrelated cases and are now on administrative leave.
Officer Scott Simpson turned himself in at the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. He is accused of the unauthorized release of body-worn camera recordings, a misdemeanor offense. Simpson has been with the Dallas Police Department since 2019.
The second arrest happened Friday, when Officer Cesar Rangel surrendered at the Denton County Sheriff’s Office. Rangel was wanted by the Elm Ridge Police Department in a misdemeanor family violence case. Details about the alleged victim have not been released. Rangel joined the department in 2022.
Dallas police say both officers have been placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigations.
