Universal Kids Resort will officially open its gates July 1 in Frisco, bringing North Texas families a new destination built specifically for young children and their parents.
The 20-acre theme park at 1 Universal Parkway features seven themed lands inspired by popular characters and franchises. Guests can explore DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp, SpongeBob SquarePants’ Bikini Bottom, Jurassic World Adventure Camp, Illumination’s Minions area, Puss in Boots Del Mar, Gabby’s Dollhouse and Trolls. The resort also includes a dedicated on-site hotel with early park admission for guests.
This marks Universal Destinations & Experiences’ first regional theme park designed from the ground up for families with kids. Tickets, hotel packages and annual passes are already on sale. The development is expected to create hundreds of jobs and boost tourism in the growing Frisco area, which has seen significant family-oriented growth in recent years.
Frisco officials and local leaders have welcomed the project as a major economic and entertainment addition to Collin County. The resort is positioned to draw visitors from across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and beyond, offering a more accessible alternative to larger Universal parks in Florida and California.
Construction and planning have emphasized safety, accessibility and age-appropriate experiences, with attractions scaled for younger guests. The park aims to deliver immersive, character-driven fun while providing parents convenient amenities and rest areas.
Universal representatives have highlighted the project as a new chapter in family entertainment, focusing on joy, creativity and memorable experiences for little ones.
