A University of Utah football player from Mesquite is dead after a weekend shooting in Salt Lake City.

Police say 21-year-old Aaron Lowe was shot and killed early Sunday morning while attending a house party, just hours after his team beat Washington State. Another woman was shot, she remains in critical condition.
No arrests have been made.
Lowe graduated from West Mesquite High School in 2019. Lowe's counselor at West Mesquite High School Jennifer Meek said it was always a treat to see Lowe shine on the football field, especially since she knew who he was beyond that. Before his 2019 graduation, she said she told Lowe what she tells all of her graduates. "That no matter where they are they can always come back home," she said to NBCDFW.com
Crisis counselors will be at West Mesquite High School today, ready to talk to friends and former class-mates of Lowe.
"We are devastated to hear about the passing of Aaron Lowe," Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Aaron's family and friends, along with the other individual who was harmed in this tragic incident. Aaron was a great teammate, friend, brother and son and was loved by anyone who crossed paths with him. He will be deeply missed."
The deadly shooting came less than a year after Ty Jordan, Lowe's teammate at both Utah and West Mesquite, was killed in an accidental shooting in Denton.
