A tragedy for a University Park family who was caught up in a chain reaction crash in Wilbarger County leaving the parents and two teenagers seriously hurt and a nine-year-old girl dead.

On Saturday, police reports say Michael and Marissa Mullins and their three children were on Highway 287 a few miles southeast of Vernon when a minivan careened across the grassy median and slammed into their SUV.

The Mullins and their two teenage boys are in the hospital with serious injuries. But tragically, their nine-year-old daughter was killed. The driver of the mini-van also died and a teenage passenger was hurt.

Also hurt in the crash were Hernando and Lorena Trejos, a Fort Worth couple in a third vehicle caught up in the chain reaction crash. They were rushed to a local hospital but DPS has not said anything about their injuries.

Sunday night in the Mullins neighborhood, friends and neighbors gathered to console themselves, leaving pink ribbons in the little girl's memory.
