The United States Mint has released a special uncirculated coin set celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary, just days ahead of the July 4 holiday.
The 2026 uncirculated set features 20 coins struck at both the Philadelphia and Denver mints, including five unique semiquincentennial quarters honoring key milestones in American history: the Mayflower Compact, the Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Gettysburg Address. The set also includes a dual-dated Lincoln penny (1776-2026), an Emerging Liberty dime, a Native American dollar, and other signature coins with designs emblematic of the milestone.
The coins are now available for purchase directly from the U.S. Mint website for $124.50 per set, complete with a certificate of authenticity. This limited-edition release offers collectors and history enthusiasts a tangible way to commemorate the semiquincentennial, or SemiQ, as the 250th anniversary is often called.
The timing aligns with nationwide celebrations for America 250, with communities across North Texas and the country preparing events, parades, and educational programs to mark the occasion. The coins provide a lasting keepsake that highlights foundational moments in the nation’s story while circulating the spirit of independence.
The U.S. Mint has produced annual uncirculated sets for decades, but the 2026 edition stands out for its one-year-only commemorative designs. No additional agencies were directly involved in the release beyond the Mint’s standard production process.
For collectors in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the set represents an accessible entry into numismatics tied to a once-in-a-lifetime national milestone. Local coin shops and events may see increased interest as residents look to add these pieces to personal collections or gifts.
