The Governor of Virginia has sent a hundred members of the Virginia National Guard to Texas. They'll participate in Operation Lone Star along the border with Mexico for 30 days.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott put out a call for other states to support the border security operation earlier this year. West Virginia, Florida, Nebraska and South Carolina have already contributed personnel.

"Someone called for help, and we are going to go help them," said Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin. "That’s what this is all about. I firmly believe this is a worthy mission."

The soldiers and airmen left Virginia over the weekend and are currently in Texas. They include members of the Virginia National Guard's 2nd Squadron, 183rd Cavalry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team plus Virginia Army and Air National Guard units based in Lynchburg, Winchester, Fredericksburg, Danville, Staunton and Hampton.
