A Waxahachie man will be spending the rest of his life behind bars for the beating death of his infant daughter.
A jury has convicted 38-year-old Jose Sierra of Waxahachie of injury to a child and sent him to prison for life.
Court records show on December 28, 2021 Sierra showed up at the Ellis County Sheriff's Office with his lifeless child, Valeria. Paramedics were on the scene within minutes but were unable to revive the child.
An autopsy showed a very different story than the one Sierra tried to spin. Ellis County DA Ann Montgomery said the child had two broken clavicles, a fracture to her left femur, fractures to her left proximal tibia, and a refracture to a healing break of her left distal fibula.
She also had multiple bruises and hemorrhages to her head, face, neck, chin, shoulder, torso, right hand, and left leg.
"The injuries this baby endured during her short life were despicable," stated Montgomery. "The person who should have protected Valeria was, in fact, the perpetrator."
Montgomery says the wife was working at the time but given the long-term nature of the injuries, she has also been charged and is awaiting trial.
