We are less than a month into summer and West Nile Virus is already surging around North Texas.
Director of Dallas County Health and Human Services, Dr. Philip Huang says mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus are starting to show everywhere.
He says the mosquito-borne disease has not been found in humans yet. But he says tracking it can be a challenge for his department.
He says to wear long pants or long-sleeve shirts if you are going to be out at dawn or dusk when mosquitoes are most active. If it's simply too hot he says to use insect repellent that includes something called DEET. And he says to drain anything around the house that might contain water where mosquitoes breed.
